Everfield, a buy-and-grow investor in European B2B SaaS businesses, has acquired Retain, the Spanish Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) platform running maintenance, compliance and document management for some of the country's largest operators. CEO Ignacio de la Peña continues to lead the company, with the full team remaining in Madrid and Albacete.
Founded in 2019 as a spin-off of Spanish technical services group Retailgas S.A., Retain carries more than two decades of experience building maintenance software for asset-intensive businesses. Its customers today span multiple sectors, from energy and retail to hospitality and real estate, among them Moeve, Alsea, Alcampo, Carrefour, and Q8.
Retain's software manages the full lifecycle of physical assets in one platform: inventory, preventive and corrective maintenance, incidents, work orders, inspections, audits, documentation and cost control. The highly configurable platform, with web and mobile capabilities, provides vertical solutions and is interoperable with customers’ systems, including ERP integrations, enabling end-to-end digitalisation of maintenance and asset management processes.
An in-house engineering and consulting team complements the software with specialised services for the management and maintenance of distributed assets.
Ignacio de la Peña continues as CEO, with Sergio Fernández de Sevilla as Managing Director. The wider Retain team remains in place, serving clients as before.

“We are very excited to join the Everfield ecosystem. This new chapter gives Retain the opportunity to build synergies with other companies across the group and benefit from Everfield’s resources, expertise and experience. We believe this will help us deliver even greater value to our customers, continue evolving our products and solutions, reach new customers and accelerate Retain’s growth while preserving the experience and identity we have built over more than two decades,” said Ignacio de la Peña, CEO of Retain Technologies.
“What impressed us about Retain is the depth behind the software: an asset management platform with vertical solutions across several sectors, refined over two decades. That knowledge is hard to replicate, and it makes our wider group stronger.
“AI is where can add value fastest. Everfield has spent the last few years building real capability in applying AI to vertical software, and Retain's position inside its customers' daily operations makes it an obvious place to put that to work. Our job is to back Ignacio, Sergio and the team for the long term as they accelerate what they had already started and take the platform to more operators across Europe,” said Ignacio Villalón Pérez-Artacho, Country Manager for Iberia at Everfield.
Retain is Everfield's eighth acquisition in the Iberian region. It joins Everfield's Business & Industrial Systems vertical alongside companies such as 4GL (Spain), CIM Software (UK), Synergee (France), and ondeso (Germany), all building mission-critical software that keeps business operations running. Retain will continue to operate under its own brand, with the same team, and keep developing its product, backed by Everfield's permanent ownership and a network of more than 40 European SaaS businesses across 11 countries.
Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Madrid, Retain Technologies provides a comprehensive SaaS platform for asset, maintenance and document management, originally developed in the early 2000s. The platform helps companies with geographically distributed asset networks digitalise and centralise their operations, from inventory and maintenance to inspections, documentation and cost control. Its customers span multiple sectors across Spain and Europe, including energy, hospitality, retail and real estate. Learn more at retaintechnologies.com.
