KOST specialises in warehouse management software and point of sale (POS) systems for the care & catering industry. A growing player in the DACH region, their customers include corporate canteens, care facilities, hospitals, hotels, and restaurants.
KOST was founded in 2000 by Michael Cikerle, and Richard Huß, who have respective backgrounds in gastronomy and IT. Michael was looking for ways to organise inventory and reduce inefficiencies resulting from manual processes in hospitality. He worked with Richard, who was teaching IT, to develop a simple, digital, inventory management solution.
The company's commitment to excellence and sustainability positions it as a vital player in the European foodservice software market. Their products also support the reduction of food waste and sustainability practices in hospitality.
The software functionality has grown substantially since their founding, enabling them to work with large kitchens and complex logistics setups. Their solution supports customers by digitising the whole value chain, from meal ordering to purchasing ingredients and automating the food production in restaurants, canteens, and kitchens. Their payments subsidiary Paycaso offers a closed loop payment system supporting various payment methods.
The team of 30 employees continues to support customers from their office in Graz, Austria.
